CM: Pioli no longer has the ‘confidence’ of Milan’s management – the situation

During the start of this season, AC Milan have always reiterated their confidence in Stefano Pioli and his staff. However, after the draw against Salernitana on Friday evening, this is no longer the case and his potential last chance is coming up.

Milan needed to win the game against Salernitana, heading into it as clear favourites despite the many absences. The draw was yet another disappointing result and Pioli is now truly on his last life, as reported by Calciomercato.com this afternoon.

More so than the result, the Rossoneri management is upset over the injury of Fikayo Tomori, the 31st injury for the club since the season started. And as a result, Pioli no longer has the ‘confidence’ of the management and the Sassuolo clash is certainly his last chance.

Even if Milan were to beat the Neroverdi, the management now wants to make changes to the athletic staff of Pioli. The latter will simply have to accept this if he wants to continue at the club, and if not then the Rossoneri will find a replacement.

Pioli has a lot to think about during his Christmas dinner, that’s for sure, but at this point it doesn’t look like he can turn things around.

  1. Makes sense. I said in the summer that Pioli would only have until Christmas to show what this team can do given he got all the players he asked for otherwise they would cut him.

Looking bleak so far, and somehow worse than same time last season (in which we derailed and finished fifth). And that’s not even talking about all the injuries.

Not sure what waiting for the Sassuolo game result will change at this point, but ok. The only part that worries me is the “caretaker” role. Abate hardly walks on water. Ibra isn’t a coach.

Maybe for six months we just need to defend deep and counter to prevent future injuries and recoup players…

Going to be a fun six months let me tell ya.

    1. “Going to be a fun six months let me tell ya.”

Indeed. Lots of matches and results like yesterday’s. Fun, fun, fun!!! Good time to be a Milan-fan.

    2. As I said from the very beginning of the season, this will be a do or die season for Pioli. And we’re leaning to the second as the season goes by.

But my guts telling me we’ll get a positive result against Sassuolo. That’s just how Pioli rolls.

      1. I think what happens is, Furlani looks for a temporary replacement, fails to find one, then they come out with some bull shit like “we have faith in Pioli” until the end of the season.

Tudor for 6mo’s or even Abate is a big gamble.

  2. At the current situation it is not Pioli as a tactician not as player developer it is down to his inability to manage the training sessions which is amazing taking into account his experience. We all realize that the current situation is mostly because of insane injury rate. No manager on the planet would be able to maintain results with this kind os madness. But it is his fault we are in that situation, nobody else. He should have replaced his staff, add specialists who could change the situation but he is just amazingly stubborn. And that shows in every aspect of the management style of his.

    1. Look you can be upset with Pioli, but this is too far from objectice truth. Pioli grew a ton in the last 5 years from where he was in Serie A before. He is one of the best coaches in Italy according to most experts – not the keyboard warriors. Hanging strong for 5 years isn’t easy.

I understand that it may be time to move away from Pioli, but this unfounded forum troll votriol will not help you in life.

  3. In simple words, pioli is son weak that he can’t build a collective group playing some attractive coordinated football. Its all about individual brilliance that kept him so long, thanks leao, theo, giroud, tomori, ibra and maiganan.
