CM: Serie B side want teenage Milan star in January

By Oliver Fisher -

A Serie B side are interested in the idea of signing teenage defender Matteo Gabbia from Milan in January, a report claims.

The 19-year-old did see some playing time in preseason as he was called up to the senior squad for the International Champions Cup, and impressed in the three matches he played.

Given that Mattia Caldara is continuing his recovery from a ligament injury and won’t be back until October, the decision was made to keep Gabbia despite loan offers from four clubs (as a report on MilanNews revealed).

Despite this, Calciomercato.com recently stated that the centre-back will likely be allowed to leave on loan in January as Caldara’s return is closing in.

Now, the same outlet are reporting that Serie B side Pescara are interested in signing Gabbia on loan, having been linked with a move for him over the summer.

Pescara also recently spoke out in support of Milan midfield Franck Kessie amid an ongoing racism row involving Hellas Verona.
