CM: Three renewals and four targets to help Pioli – Maldini and Massara spring into action

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s playing squad and staff gather for preseason in one week, but the summer business still seems to be in standstill.

According to Calciomercato.com, the management’s priority is the renewal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and the Rossoneri are in talks over a deal with a fixed salary for one year with the inclusion of bonuses that will take it up to around €6m or above. Paolo Maldini has been pushing for the renewal of the Swede for some time and a conclusion is soon expected.

Once that situation is sorted, Milan are then expected to try and secure the renewals of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu.

For the former, the management are studying a proposal to be submitted to Mino Raiola in the coming weeks. If a release clause is something the club do not want, an option that could be taken into consideration is a percentage of future resale to be given to Raiola, like he had in Paul Pogba’s contract.

For Calhanoglu – expiring in 2021 – there will be talks regarding an extension until 2024 with his agent.

Maldini and sporting director Massara must move to give Pioli reinforcements, especially in defence and in midfield. The objective is to give the Milan boss two new midfielders to allow Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer a break.

Milan are also persistently looking for a starting right-back, given that Andrea Conti and Davide Calabria have not fully convinced, as well as a winger.
