CM: Why Milan dropped out of De Paul race – could facilitate Calhanoglu renewal

Milan are set to miss out on Rodrigo De Paul, who was their No.1 target for the trequartista role. The Argentine is one step away from Atletico Madrid and the Rossoneri might need to focus on Hakan Calhanoglu now.

Atletico have agreed to pay €35m to Udinese for De Paul, who scored nine goals and assisted an additional ten this past season. This was reported by Calciomercato.com, also explaining why Milan decide to drop out.

The reason was simple, really, as the price tag was too high for the Rossoneri. They will have to look elsewhere on the market now, but losing out on De Paul could also facilitate Calhanoglu’s renewal. The No.10, as we know, will expire at the end of this month.

The Turkish international is currently focused on the Euros but we can expect more news on the renewal front afterwards. Of course, Milan will have to act in advance and be prepared for everything.

  1. They can waste 4 million per year on a sack of potatoes that doesnt even want to play for Milan, but they cant pay 40 million for a perfect number 10? What in the actual flock?

  2. It’s funny if we cannot afford 35-40M on a player it’s comical to be linked to the likes of Ziyech, Vlahovic, De Paul, Milenkovic, etc…what do they think teams will just give them to use for peanuts? Lol. Sad

    1. Are u willing to pay for d players or is it so difficult to understand d financial situation of Milan and most other clubs…. And is DePaul and improvement of Hakan dat u want to waste 40m on him whilst we have other positions crying for attention

      1. What difficult financial situation? Elliott has shitloads of financial resources. They are just cheap ass americans that are unwilling to spend.

  3. Why? The right answer is because they don’t have 40 milions for him. It has nothing to do with Hakan’s decision.

    1. We make champions league and can’t even buy 1 player worth $35 mil , unbelievable
De Paul would have been a great signing

  4. Even after qualifying for Champions league, we can’t afford this kind of operation in the transfer market….I wonder how our champions league outing and performance will look like… Cos even teams from Israel league will beat us to stupor.

  5. I think Milan is renewing Calha and will sell him next year and then use the money to get another quality playmaker
Just hoping he plays well this upcoming season both for us and himself

  6. Free transfers & loans
    Forza Milan
I thought we were serious about champions league , might as well have stayed in Europa league if you can’t buy a player worth $35 mil.
And I don’t know how they can be serious about selling of Leao & hauge , are we that desperate for funds
