Conte discusses how Inter will try to neutralise Ibrahimovic: “Work as a team”

Antonio Conte has changed the way Inter play since taking over in 2019, having led them to a second-placed finish behind Juventus last season, while also completing a commendable Europa League campaign.

Similarly, Ibrahimovic’s arrival at Milan has seen the Rossoneri propel to a current second-place in the race for the Scudetto. The Rossoneri have been in their best form in almost a decade, an achievement that could partly be credited to the presence of the 39-year-old Swedish striker who has scored a remarkable 16 goals in 18 appearances.

Conte tried signing Ibrahimovic during his time as Chelsea manager and admires the Swede a lot. Speaking ahead of the derby during the press conference (via MilanNews), Conte made his thoughts known on how to neutralise the big Swede’s threat.

“We have to minimize team errors and work as a team. He is a strong player who is giving a lot to Milan. He scored against us in previous matches but he doesn’t necessarily have to do it this time,” he began.

The Italian tactician made it clear that irrespective of Ibra’s presence, Inter will be looking to grab a victory.

“Apart from Ibra, the only thing that interests us is winning the derby. We will give our best as always for these colours and we will do everything for the fans. We always want them to be proud of our commitment,” he said.

This will be the first time in ages the two Milan giants sit one point apart at the top of the Serie A table. Inter are unbeaten in their last five league matches while AC Milan’s two defeats in as many matches see them enter the clash in second place.
