CorSera: Ibrahimovic renewal more likely if Pioli stays at Milan – the situation

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic hasn’t made a decision on his future yet and the newspapers continue to speculate about the matter. Arriving in January, the Swede has been a game-changer for AC Milan, thus sparking rumours of a renewal.

According to today’s edition of Corriere Della Sera (via Milanlive.it), the 38-year-old has decided to wait until the Rossoneri’s project for next season is clear. Above all, the manager will be an important factor.

With that said, Ibrahimovic is willing to negotiate and the game is open, meaning the ball is in Elliott’s court to make a move for the renewal. Should Stefano Pioli remain on the bench, then the chances of the Swede renewing would increase.

There will be a face-to-face meeting between CEO Ivan Gazidis and Ibrahimovic once the latter is back in Italy, first via skype and then in person. These dialogues are expected to be decisive as the project will be explained.

If it’s a convincing project, then the striker will stay. For now, though, everything has been put on hold as the Rossoneri still don’t know if the season will be finished. In the meantime, Ibrahimovic continues to train in Sweden.
