CorSera: Leonardo rejected chance to replace Gattuso as AC Milan boss

By Oliver Fisher -

Current director Leonardo has rejected the possibility of replacing Gennaro Gattuso and becoming the new AC Milan coach, a report claims.

Speculation has suggested recently that Gattuso is under pressure with the Rossoneri having gone five games without a win in all competitions.

However, a report from the Corriere della Sera claims that the board see a lack of real options to replace him.

Antonio Conte is the man most desired by the Milan hierarchy, however he is thought to be unwilling to take over a team halfway through the season.

Francesco Guidolin and Roberto Donadoni have been linked but no contact have been made, while Arsene Wenger is not on the list of targets despite Ivan Gazidis’ appointment at the club.

The newspaper states that Milan’s owners Elliott Management asked Leonardo to step in as coach, but he told them in no uncertain terms that he wishes to stay as a director.
