CorSera: Maldini and Rangnick can’t work together at Milan – the reasons

By Isak Möller -

In recent days, Ralf Rangnick has been heavily linked with an important position at AC Milan, ready to be one of the leaders of the revolution. In fact, should he arrive, then many things will change.

According to Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews.it), Paolo Maldini’s future at the club is directly related to the potential arrival of Rangnick. The German, who would get a role as manager and sporting director, would exclude the Italian director.

In fact, the two finding a way to work together is impossible, as the newspaper notes. They are both very passionate about their work, but with different ideas and perspectives about how the club should be managed.

The current Rossoneri director would like to focus on tradition, building a group that is young but also has some experienced champions. As we have seen this season, the latter method is useful to help the youngsters grow on many levels.

Rangnick has a completely different project. He wants to build a young Milan, with players under the age of 23 and low-cost signings. A philosophy that resembles what CEO Ivan Gazidis wants, which could be the basis of Maldini’s farewell.
