CorSera: Mandzukic caps off positive week with encouraging 30 minutes against Genoa

By Oliver Fisher -

After a long period of absence due to a muscle injury, Mario Mandzukic made his return to the pitch during Sunday’s win over Genoa.

The Croatian striker came on against Genoa for the final 30 minutes and in addition to the run that propitiated Scamacca’s own goal, he did above all what was asked of him by battling for every ball and pinning the opponent deeper.

According to what il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes, Rafael Leao disappointed a lot during the game against the Grifone and so after 17 minutes of the second half Pioli decided to replace him with the 33-year-old.

The half hour on the pitch that the former Bayern Munich and Juventus man got was absolutely encouraging, and it caps off a positive week as it was announced on Friday that Mandzukic has refused his March salary due to his injury, with the money saved going to charity.
