CorSera: Milan and Inter continue stadium negotiations as key issue remains

By Isak Möller -

The new project for the San Siro area, as was presented by AC Milan and Inter, didn’t fully convince the city council of Milan. Despite the great progress made in the negotiations, there is still a problem that needs to be solved.

Yesterday was a very important day, as Milan and Inter presented the designs of Papulous and Manica-Cmr for the re-functionalization of the Giuseppe Meazza stadium and the creation of a new district in the San Siro area.

The clubs, as stated in today’s edition of Corriere Della Sera (via Milanlive.it), met the requests of the city council, who was against the complete demolition of Giuseppe Meazza. The idea of converting it to other activities was accepted by the clubs.

However, there is still no agreement between the parties. Milan and Inter have asked to be able to build 180K square meters around the new stadium to guarantee the sustainability of the expensive project.

The city council hasn’t agreed to this yet and the parties continue to negotiate for an agreement. Given the importance of the project, not just for the clubs but also for the city, it would be silly to throw it all away.
