Antonio Conte Inter Stefano Pioli Milan

CorSera: When Milan will make a decision on Pioli amid persistent Conte rumours

There continue to be strong rumours that circulate regarding who might become AC Milan’s next head coach once the right time comes to part ways with Stefano Pioli.

A number of names have been mentioned in the media from Thiago Motta of Bologna to Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton, and we put five candidates to the test in an experiment on Football Manager yesterday.

One of the hottest names though is Antonio Conte, and Sportitalia are adamant that the Italian wants to coach Milan next after leaving Spurs last season in rather heated circumstances.

The director of the source – Michele Criscitiello – even stated that Conte is ‘waiting for Milan’ and that he would not demand the world in terms of salary and summer signings.

As this morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports, the rumours of a possible marriage between Milan and Conte in the near future have intensified in recent days.

However, this is an eventuality that would only occur if Pioli ‘s adventure were to end at the end of the season and it is still too early to say, with the current coach still busy in the middle of a very important phase of the season.

The paper adds taht Pioli is calm and thinking about the present, while for the management a decision will only be made in the Spring.

    1. Who gives a f about the second star. The whole point of that was to get it before the blueside merde. Doesn’t look like it’s happening atm tho the “race” isn’t over yet.

      1. Maybe Juve will win the Scudetto. Despite the rivalry with Juve, the rivalry with Inter is bigger and if we can’t win the Scudetto this season (it looks out of reach) I’d prefer to see Juve win it rather than Inter, exactly because I want the second star before Inter gets theirs. If Juve wins their game they will be only 2 points below Inter.

  1. Roberto De Zerbi is too good and already too big a name for any Seria A club. Sorry to say.

    Mota, definitely maybe.

Conte, I like his toughness and winner mentality. Nevermind his salary, demands for transfers etc, what bothers me the most is his 5-3-2 formation. It dosen’t fit one bit with our current squad.

  2. Inter is targeting Scudetto and UCL final… Meanwhile our board without ball are waiting for Pioli’s next failure lol. They know Conte has always come up with serious ambitions and is not a toy coach.
If board was interested in Scudetto, they would have fired Pioli in summer already
