CorSera: Milan preparing for post-Kessie era as midfield loanees will return

By Isak Möller -

Franck Kessie’s future has been a hot topic lately and that is understandable, seeing as his contract with AC Milan will expire in the summer. By the looks of it, the Rossoneri are planning for a scenario in which he leaves.

The midfielder has been a key player for Milan in the last few years and it would indeed be a shame to lose him for free. His renewal demands have been very hefty, though, which also has to be considered.

According to today’s edition of Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews), Milan have put €6m per year on the table but Kessie wants €8m. The distance between the parties is still significant, in other words, and a solution looks difficult.

In the summer, the Rossoneri will welcome Yacine Adli and Tommaso Pobega back to the club as the loans will expire. Two midfielders that want to fight for a starting spot and seemingly have what it takes to do so. In that sense, Milan would be able to cover for Kessie’s exit.

  1. Tonali, Pobega,Bennecer and Adil our midfield will be awesome but we will still need one bully midfielder like Kessie and I think Renato will be best

    1. Bully? Well… Pobega kept pushing Kessie off the ball like Cashie was a little kid. And there’s still Bakayoko as I’m sure Milan can get rid of him in the summer.

  2. I’m exited for the youngsters, but you can’t subtitute Kessie with Pobega or Ardli. We need a strong type of midfielder like Kessie is he is about to leave…

    1. Adli is more of playmaker and Pobega a classic do it all.

I would actually continue that experiment with Kessie as acm. Overall he scored a lot for us, can assist as well and IS a tank.

We could even keep him then as acms want higher salaries anyway…and offload Brahim. who Real can buy back for 28 – and he would cost us 22 – is not a longterm solution in any scenario.

      1. Yes, maybe they can accomodate Cashie as he could be useful for AMF cus he’s in top form, strong, can pass, shoot, and not prone to injury. Adli hasn’t made great impact to his club as they’re struggling in Ligue 1.

        1. We have a problem scoring from penalties

Anyway Kessie > Bennacer. Sanches is better a bit, but first we need to beat Arsenal to get him.
Still think best we got both, maybe by selling Ismael

          1. Yeah, maybe they shouldn’t let Cashie go. He’s the top most valuable player in his country and the top in his club along with Theo.

  3. After fake presidente i dont believe anyone until i see signed contract ,so leao, theo and others including our menagement less ”sweet talk” about agreement and do more job to finish that, only players i can believe they will never betray us are Tonali,Kjaer and Calabria, end of story.

  4. No, they are different to Kessie. Milan need the type of player like Kessie. I suggest Milan to go with Kessie for other five years. By pairing Kessie-Tonali as double-pivot, and the presence of Botman ini the back, next seasons Milan will be very solid. If Milan extend Ibra’s contract, Milan need Julian Alvarez to play as right winger and 3rd striker. Another position that Milan need to be considered is No. 10 position, if Diaz still has’nt returned to his best. Adli also can play in this position.
