CorSera: Milan make stance clear as Chelsea could try to monetise Giroud’s exit

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud has been heavily linked with Milan in the last few days as the Rossoneri are looking for a striker. However, Chelsea announced the renewal of the Frenchman yesterday, complicating things further.

It seems Giroud will still be able to leave the Stamford Bridge side this summer, but the worry is that they will ask for a transfer fee in return. Milan, as explained by Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews), have no intention of paying.

The Rossoneri are only interested in signing the striker on a free transfer and the next few days should provide more info on the situation. Per the newspaper, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara suspect that Chelsea want to monetise the departure.

Milan will make it very clear to the London-based side that they will walk away if a transfer fee is demanded. In the meantime, the directors are monitoring other targets to be well prepared.
