CorSera: Milan eye capital gain as Lazio join race for successful loanee

Daniel Maldini joined Monza on loan in January and it was a very successful second half of the season for him. According to a report, AC Milan’s attacking midfielder has attracted the interest of Lazio.

The first six months of the 2023-24 season were far from positive for Maldini, struggling with injuries and getting little playing time for Empoli. The loan was cut short and Monza came knocking, immediately giving the Milan man the opportunity to shine.

The 22-year-old ended the season with four goals and one assist, attracting the interest of several clubs in the league. According to Corriere della Sera, via TheMilanZone, Lazio have joined the race as their new manager Marco Baroni is a big fan of Maldini.

Milan are eyeing a decent capital gain, seeing as Maldini was raised in the academy, and there could even be a bidding war of sorts. Monza have made it clear before that they would like to keep the player and the price tag could be around €8-10m.

This is money that the Rossoneri could reinvest on the mercato, perhaps by paying the high commission requested by Joshua Zirkzee’s agent. There are many other targets too, of course, but the certainty is that there will be movement.

  1. Doesn’t he only have 1 year left on his contract?
If he was on a long term contract he isn’t worth 8-10 million let alone on a contract that expires in 12 months.
If they can get 3-4 million for him they should be happy. That 8-10 million isn’t happening, especially not from teams like Monza or Lazio.

  2. Why do we hate our Italians so much ??!!
Seems everyone wants him but us….if everyone else thinks he’s worth a shot, then what is our problem??!! Is it that we simply hate Italians, we could have got Calafiori last year for peanuts, but we turned our noses up and got some foreign moneyballer Pellegrino…..now look, Calafiori is starting for the national team and Pellegrino couldn’t even get in the starting 11 for Salernitana !!!!!

    1. True. Our management prefer Pellegrini instead of Calafiori in the same amount of money , because the AI algorithm 😆😆😆 What a Bozo bunch of clowns 🤡 🤡 🤡…

      1. If my memory serves me right then I believe that there was a Calafiori interview where he said when Bologna came calling he had no interest in joining other teams as it was a project where he was more or less guaranteed to play regularly. That wouldn’t have been the case with AC Milan and had he joined us he probably wouldn’t have been called up to the euros either.

  3. Invest the money from the sale in someone as good as Pellegrini or invest in the team by playing the kid?

    It’s an obvious choice.

  4. Yeah or we can use that money to extend our star players… I rather have Theo and Mike than pay a crazy commission to some agent.
