Before the mercato, it seemed that AC Milan would invest the majority of their money into one striker. However, in recent weeks, it has become apparent they are looking to spend money on two strikers to bolster their attacking roster.
Last season, the minutes up front were shared between Olivier Giroud and Luka Jovic, and whilst the Frenchman has departed, it seemed that a plan for three strikers was being touted around the club.
Milan’s idea was simple. If Giroud stayed, he would be a part of a striker rotation rather than being the main man, and other players were likely considered for that role when he decided to leave the club.
Now, the idea is to go and recruit a third striker to feature alongside Jovic and enter the team when needed.
In general, it seems like a mercato of old flames, with Alvaro Morata the favourite among the Rossoneri’s management, and it does not stop there, with Corriere della Sera (via Radio Rossonera) reporting that two other ‘old flames’ are being considered for the ‘third’ striker.
The paper suggests that Tammy Abraham is the ideal candidate in Geoffrey Moncada’s eyes, but alternatives are being considered, and those players are Memphis Depay and Armando Broja – both players have previously been linked to the club, but nothing has ever materialised in either case.
Memphis isn’t coming to Milan to be a backup. That’s just more stupid click bait. And Broja, that’s a hard no. I am usually very willing to give a player a chance to show that he is up to the task, but Broja has never shown anything.
Honestly even though Depay has fallen off recently, if he doesn’t have a greedy agent asking for huge salary/commissions and is happy with a rotation role, I’d rather him on a free than Tammy for 30mn.
None of these guys are gonna take us to the next level, so in that respect I agree with the policy of finding the best bang for your buck.
The way I see it. Morata is cuming..we need a DM. Why waste cash on another ST. We really need a DM. Like super duper really need one.

If Morata is the starter, Fulkrug would be great as a backup. He comes in for Germany and the game changes.
No on Depay. He can’t stay healthy. He only played a total of 1750 minutes combined in the last 2 years at Atletico, and he just got injured again in the semis of the Euro.
No on Broja.
Tammy Abraham would be a great signing on a low fee IF he can recover his form from his 1st season in serie A.
But Milan absolutely needs to sign 2 strikers. They currently only have Jovic and he also isn’t someone who you can count to be available. How many time we read last season that jovic will miss time because of muscle fatigue even though he had not played in several weeks?
Even if we count Okafor as a striker, he is also not someone you can count on to be available.
Milan plays every 3 days. You need depth. Besides Pioli being stucked on Giroud last season, he also in some instances had no choice but to play him every 3 days because Jovic ans Okafor were Injured.
Morata/Fulkrug or Morata/Abraham would be pretty good.
They seemed pretty available 2 me. Did 1k minutes each. That’s around 11 games..each. those are regular sub ST minutes..

Milan played 52 games last season.
Okafor played a total of 1000 minutes between a back up LW and a striker.
Jovic played a total of 1200 minutes.
Just a reminder that their competition for starting 11 at the striker position was a 37 years old Giroud who played 3341 minutes.
Okafor missed more than 2 months combined because of injuries last year.
Jovic needed 2 month to get in shape.
Milan was even forced to play a 15 year old kid because of Okafor unavailability when Giroud got a red card, but let’s pretend that they were pretty available.
2 months? Where did you find that info? He was out for 5 weeks, that is hardly 2 months.
And yes jovic was not in shape, happens when you panic buy someone in the last hours. Doesn’t mean he won’t be ready this summer. Especially if we consider he is gonna do the preseason with Milan.
Yeah sure. Giroud was red, okafor was injured and jovic played. And we won both of those games. What’s the problem? Should we have a player with a 4-5M salary on the bench just for this , very unique and doubtful to happen again, scenario? Leao was also injured at the time. What are the chances?

Having a 4-5m salary player is not a big deal… Its most the team competitive. City have Alvarez on the beach with Halland in play and he earns more than the 5m you stated

Memphis has the x factor and would do very well combining with Leao and Pulisic/Chukaweze. Issue is he is injury prone so no point signing someone on very high wages and sizeable transfer if they are out 20 games each year.
If PSG is after Kravchelia & Osemieh. I would love for us to go for Ramos or ask for loan to buy for Rashford who might be out of their plans.
