CorSera: Pioli asks for reinforcements to help ‘new signing’ Adli

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli has seemingly asked for a bit more help from the transfer market to boost the midfield, but he did state that Yacine Adli is like a ‘new signings’.

As Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) recalls this morning, Pioli stated in his pre-match press conference yesterday that he expects reinforcements in this final bit of the January mercato and not just a centre-back.

“I believe that if there is the possibility we could do something on the transfer market, we lost Pobega for a long time, we have Bennacer in the Africa Cup of Nations and we lost Krunic. There may be the possibility of an addition but it then depends on the opportunities,” he said.

It is not certain that Pioli’s wishes will be listened to though as per the paper, because the management will make new additions to the squad only if they identify the profiles that guarantee a jump in quality.

Tonight against Udinese – while looking for his 100th win as Milan management – Pioli will once again rely on Yacine Adli in the double pivot alongside Tijjani Reijnders.

While awaiting reinforcements, Pioli defined Adli as a new signing because the former Bordeaux player did not get much playing time but he was patient, waited for his moment, climbed the hierarchies and became important.

He is now a player that the coach trusts and he hopes to have a big impact in the second part of the season, in which the Rossoneri will try to close the gap to Inter and Juventus.

    1. Popovic had his chance and they blew it.
      Chose money over opportunity.

Amrabat on loan with option to buy makes a lot of sense to me. He knows Serie A well

  1. There is very little value in the winter transfer market. I’d rather the club sit tight and continue to play some of the Primavera players to see what they can offer. The Scudetto isn’t out of the question (though unlikely unless Inter suffers an injury to a key player or two) but there are no difference makers on the market that Milan can afford.

  2. Why do we keep showing everyone our hands??? They need to learn from classic Galliani…..”we are fine as we are” ….which could mean we can be getting no one or next day, we’re getting Ibra and Binho. That’s how you should operate
