CorSport: Bayern Munich watch on as Milan attempt Theo Hernandez extension

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are attempting to extend Theo Hernandez’s contract by another three years but Bayern Munich are very keen on signing the French full-back this summer.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News), the Rossoneri are wary of losing one of their most important players in the future for a fee that does not represent his quality.

His current contract expires in 2026 which means that a summer sale would still be very lucrative, but Milan do not want to lose the left-back who impressed against Chile on Tuesday night.

For that reason, the club are ready to offer him a three-year extension. That time frame would not be too daunting for the player who may want to leave the club eventually, but also protects his value from a Milan perspective.

He currently earns €4.5m per season but this would have to be adjusted with a new contract, which could be done with easily-achievable bonuses.

The opposition is Bayern Munich, as they are expecting to lose Alphonso Davies this summer to Real Madrid as he is out of contract in 2025 and has shown no interest in a renewal.

Were they to offer Hernandez a salary of €8-10m, it would be hard to turn down. There has been no suggestion that Hernandez is unsettled at Milan in any way, though.
