CorSport: ‘Danger averted’ – the details of Camarda’s now imminent renewal

By Ben Dixon -

Reports in recent months had claimed that the situation between Francesco Camarda and AC Milan were in a dangerous place, given the youngster was receiving interest from several of Europe’s elite. However, it now seems like the danger has been ‘averted’.

It is fair to compare the situation to a story from a soap opera in some ways. A love that cannot go away is seemingly tempted by others, but eventually, the love prevails, and that is seemingly the case here.

Regardless of the suggestions, Milan have remained confident throughout the process that Camarda would stay at the club he loves, the club that gave him his debut, and the club he sees in his future, and their confidence could be finalised shortly.

As Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News) writes, Camarda is set to sign his first contract until 2027, and whilst some may question a three-year deal, this is the maximum for players under the age of 18. However, given they have waited until now, there is now the added bonus of security.

When 2027 rolls around, the youngster will be 19, and therefore, Milan will have already had time to arrange a new deal for him after his 18th birthday, hopefully aided by continued progress.

  1. That second contract, the first 5 year deal possible when he turns 18, is going to be very expensive if he continues scoring as he has been. We could be in the very same situation we were with Donnarumma the first time around when he finally signed that huge contract. I won’t have any confidence in Camarda until he signs his first full 5 year contract at 18. And then, depending on how he’s doing, we might enjoy seeing him for a couple of seasons before the eventual big money move to the PL, because we’ll definitely be priced out after that.

    1. He seems like a genuine fan of the club and he is born in Milano so i think when he is 18 he will then sign a longer contract and if not already at the age of 18 then maybe at 19 he will already play for the Italy international team at least if he can keep up his progression. Only time will tell though but im fairly confident that he will stay with us for years to come.

  2. It’s been illuminating watching a 16 year old / 2008 born Camarda playing in an U17 Euro against 17 year old / 2007 born players.

It gives you an idea of the physical specimen, that has been much more difficult to read among 19 year olds (3 to 4 years older) and certainly when he played for the senior team. He’s an extremely impressive athlete among his slightly older peers. He cuts a towering/hulking figure on the pitch but he’s also quick.

I think he’ll end up 6’3 / 6’4 and he’ll be quick at that size. Something like Hojlund as an athlete.

When you combine his physical capacity with the clear and obvious technical quality it makes for a player with generational potential.

    Don’t **** this up Milan.

    1. He has potential to become tall but 1.84 isnt really super tall at that age, he could grow some though in the coming years.
