CorSport: Decisive months ahead for Milan captain as exit cannot be ruled out

By Isak Möller -

Alessio Romagnoli hasn’t been at his best this season and this has resulted in him losing his starting spot, despite being the captain. Now, he faces a very tough task of replacing either Simon Kjaer or Fikayo Tomori.

The defender currently earns €3.5m per year and his contract with the Rossoneri will expire in 2022, which is something the management has to deal with. But since his agent is Mino Raiola, it’s not exactly an easy thing.

Most likely, Raiola will ask for a pay rise and as Corriere Dello Sport reports (via MilanLive), the situation is indeed very complex. In the coming months, Milan will make a final decision to avoid another Donnarumma situation, i.e. waiting too long.

Considering that Kjaer most likely can’t play every game, Romagnoli must be ready and he will surely get the chance. This isn’t a guarantee for his future, though, and Raiola would probably like to take his client abroad (seems to be a few suitors).

    1. At 26,he should be in entering his prime….but so far this season Kjaer,Tomori and even Gabbia(earlier this season) looked better….we should cash in on him.while we can…He can leave… Donnarrumma was supposed to be Captain anyway.
