CorSport: Gabbia will not leave Milan this month despite Sampdoria links

By Isak Möller -

Matteo Gabbia has been an important player for AC Milan in the last few games as many key centre-backs have been missing. The youngster has stepped up and it looks like he will remain until the end of the season.

Prior to Fikayo Tomori’s injury, it was reported by Daniele Longo that the Rossoneri had an agreement principle with Sampdoria over Gabbia. They just needed to sign a centre-back before giving the go-ahead, but then Tomori got injured.

And, of course, Milan are yet to bring in a centre-back as well. According to today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Gabbia should remain at the club until the end of the season given the emergency at the back.

The youngster will start alongside Pierre Kalulu against Spezia tomorrow evening and it will be another important test for both of them. It remains to be seen if Gabbia will get a loan move next season, but for now he will stay put.
