CorSport: Gazidis’ right-hand man Hendrik Almstadt causing tensions at Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Hendrik Almstadt is another man who is behind the tensions currently manifesting themselves at AC Milan, according to a report.

MilanNews recently offered a bit of background on Almstadt and why he has become so important to Ivan Gazidis and to Milan since being appointed last January.

According to il Corriere dello Sport though – as cited by MilanLive – he is also the root of some disagreements. Gazidis as CEO gave more credit to the German than to Boban and Maldini when it came to decision making in the recent transfer window, triggering more than some misunderstanding.

Specifically, Almstadt blocked some operations for both financial and technical reasons, because the intent is to totally change the Rossoneri’s philosophy.

The newspaper adds that it is also easy to assume that he was the one to recommend his compatriot Ralf Rangnick to Gazidis as the man to lead Milan into the future. The South African denied that an agreement has already been secured with the former Leipzig coach, but did not deny an interest in him in view of the next season.
