CorSport: Giroud keen on opening 2023 account vs. Roma after Salernitana disbelief

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud will play from the first minute in AC Milan’s clash against Roma tomorrow and will be looking to open his account for 2023. Last time out, he came very close but somehow failed.

The Frenchman, with just a few days of training in his legs, played from start against Salernitana and played really well. He linked up with his teammates and got into good positions, but failed to find the back of the net.

As highlighted by Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews), he didn’t lack chances but missed out due to a lack of composure and some heroics from goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa. Indeed, the latter made life very frustrating for Giroud.

Against Roma, therefore, the striker will be eager to open his 2023 account. Milan will need him in good form to come away with the three points, which would give them a further boost in the Scudetto race (now just five points behind Napoli).
