CorSport: Milan captain’s salary is higher than first thought – the figures and new demand

By Isak Möller -

Alessio Romagnoli has struggled this season and injuries haven’t made things better, as evidenced by Fikayo Tomori outperforming him. And now Milan must decide on his renewal, as the contract will expire in 2022.

The centre-back renewed his contract with the Rossoneri in the summer of 2018, which the fans appreciated as the club was going through a rough period. However, new reports have emerged on the salary that deal guaranteed him.

Up until now, it has been stated that Romagnoli earns about €3.5m per season. However, as per Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanLive), the defender has a fixed increase for each contract years that goes by, reaching almost €6m including bonuses last season.

In any case, Mino Raiola is asking for a fixed amount of €5m per season, which is a very high figure that the Rossoneri aren’t too keen on. It remains to be seen if Romagnoli will stay or leave, with his price tag set at around €25m.
