CorSport: Milan duo will join Dubai trip after World Cup disappointment

By Isak Möller -

Simon Kjaer and Charles De Ketelaere were both hoping to stay in Qatar for at least a little longer, taking part in the World Cup with Denmark and Belgium respectively. However, they were eliminated in the group stage.

It was a very disappointing tournament for both these teams, as Denmark finished last in their group with one point and Belgium third in their group with four points. Not exactly the best confidence boost for Kjaer and De Ketelaere, in other words.

On the other hand, Stefano Pioli will be able to welcome the du back earlier than expected. As reported by today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews), both should take part in the training camp in Dubai (also two friendlies).

De Ketelaere could use the playing time, frankly, having struggled to assert himself thus far at Milan. It will be a couple of games without any particular pressure, and that might benefit him a lot.

    1. Please explain. He has had a mere 4 months or so to adapt to a new country and league and he is “running out of time”?

I am not saying he will turn out to be a good buy but he should at least be given a full season if not two before a judgement is made. He is still young too so not as if he is a finished product. (Hopefully)
