CorSport: Milan prepare renewal for Romagnoli as Barcelona show interest

By Isak Möller -

Alessio Romagnoli is the captain and leader of AC Milan, but there are inevitable market rumours about his future. Being an excellent centre-back, there is no lack of inquiries from the big Europeans clubs.

As confirmed by today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport (via Milanlive.it), Milan want to keep the defender as he will be a key man for the new project. The idea is to extend the current deal by three years, bringing the deadline to June 2025.

The negotiations haven’t properly started yet, as Milan also need to solve the renewals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gigio Donnarumma with Mino Raiola. Romagnoli’s contract will expire in 2022,  thus giving them some more time.

However, it’s clear that all offers for the captain will be rejected. In particular, Barcelona have shown interest in the 25-year-old, who is obviously flattered by the interest of the big clubs. Then again, he’s fine in Milan and has no problem with staying.
