CorSport: Pioli maintains faith in Theo and Adli – both set for crucial roles vs. Roma

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are in need of a win to once again relieve some of the pressure surrounding the squad at the moment, and there are a couple of players who will have important roles.

This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) talks about the probably choices that Stefano Pioli will make in terms of selection, starting with the defence where Theo Hernández should resume his place on the left. Davide Calabria, Matteo Gabbia and Simon Kjær are the others tipped to play.

In midfield, Yacine Adli will play as the deeper-lying playmaker in front of the defence, with Tijjani Reijnders at his side and Ruben Loftus-Cheek a bit further forward.

Christian Pulisic (voted Player of the Month in Serie A for December) and Rafael Leão, who scored in the Coppa Italia against Cagliari and Atalanta but has not scored in the league since September 2023.

Olivier Giroud will complete the attacking trident, with Noah Okafor back available after his return from injury and Luka Jovic on the bench too.

The roles of Theo and Adli will be key, given that the former showed what he can do when unleashed down the left during the cup game against Atalanta, while the latter must help fill a creative void in the build-up phase with Ismael Bennacer absent.
