AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli will continue with the midfield pairing he has used recently while waiting for Franck Kessie’s return, according to a report.

Today’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes that with Franck Kessié busy at the Olympics, Pioli is testing and will continue to test the duo of Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer for the next preseason games.

He started with them against Pro Sesto and Modena in the two opening friendlies at Milanello which resulted in 6-0 and 5-0 wins respectively, with Bennacer actually scoring the first goal of the summer campaign.

They will be the starting midfielders in the rest of the preseason while the Rossoneri are awaiting the return of the Ivorian, while the future Tommaso Pobega remains uncertain. The paper remarks that he could leave on loan in the current window, but does not mention the possibility of a permanent exit.
