CorSport: Pioli wants €40m Fiorentina star as Milan continue search for centre-back

By Isak Möller -

By the looks of it, Milan will bring in a centre-back during the January window as Stefano Pioli has lacked depth in that position. In fact, they tried already in the summer but failed despite courting several players.

As reported by Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanLive), the manager has made Nikola Milenkovic his favourite on the wish list, having already coached him at Fiorentina. However, it won’t be easy to secure the Serbian.

La Viola are working hard to renew his contract, which will expire in 2022, but so far without success. In the next few days, there could be a new meeting between the club and Milenkovic’s outrage, but the future sure remains unknown.

The 23-year-old has already received several offers and this could push him to reject a renewal. Without a new contract, a transfer would be inevitable but Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso is still asking for €40m to sell.
