CorSport: Serie A could be resumed in late May – the possible schedule

By Isak Möller -

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus emergency, football has been brought to a halt. Until now, the plan was always to resume the season in early May, but now it seems that this has been scrapped in favour of a more realistic solution.

According to today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), based on the indications from FIGC and UEFA, the new idea is to resume the season in late May. As a result of this, the season would end at the beginning of July

Of course, this still depends on the outcome of the Coronavirus outbreak. The first date would be on May 20th for the 25th round, that some clubs are yet to play. Then it would continue with the 27th round on the weekend that week.

The entire schedule includes two games per week, as the clubs can no longer avoid mid-week games if they want to finish the season in time. Consequently, the Coppa Italia games would be played after the season ends on July 2nd.
