CorSport: Milan’s youth project continues with midfield reinforcements – the vision of Elliott

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s recruitment strategy has continued and will continue along the line of signing young, hungry and talented players.

According to Wednesday’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), Sandro Tonali and the signings that follow will carry on with the aim of strengthening the Rossoneri, always keeping the average age of the squad low.

The paper claims that Milan want to reach the Champions League with young players who give guarantees from a physical point of view.

Tonali last season only missed two games with Brescia due to injury and Tiemoué Bakayoko – who should arrive shortly – is a midfielder who is unlikely to be out due to physical problems, at least based on what we saw in 2018-19.

It is therefore a midfield – completed by Ismael Bennacer (22) and Franck Kessie (23) – which is full of young and strong athletes.

This is without forgetting Tommaso Pobega, too. The 21-year-old returned from his loan at Pordenone and will fight for a spot in the squad. In Europe, only RB Leipzig, Real Sociedad and Schalke 04 have a lower average age.
