Sandro Tonali walked off the pitch during AC Milan’s friendly against Vicenza last night and medical tests have been scheduled for tomorrow. The outcome could be decisive for the Rossoneri’s mercato plans.
The injury comes at the worst possible time for Milan as the season opener against Udinese is now less than one week away. Tonali immediately made it clear that he experienced groin discomfort and the Rossoneri are hoping that it’s a simple overstretch.
As reported by Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews), Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara had been hoping to wait until the end of the mercato before signing a midfielder. This, of course, in order to get more advantageous conditions.
Depending on the outcome of the tests, though, the directors could be forced to intervene straight away. Milan are hoping that it’s just an overstretch, as said, but Tonali is certain to miss the opener against Udinese in any case. Rade Krunic will replace him in the midfield tandem.
Get Maggiore in loan: we have good relations with Spezia and the player is at war with them due to captains armband
Didn’t he spend 2 months at Milan Youth but swiftly return to Spezia because he was unhappy?
And Belotti goes to Roma for 3m net per season
Admittedly, that’s about 1.5x what Origi and Giroud are being paid in real terms (wage payments including tax)
Utter rubbish. Milan aren’t going to panic buy just because Tonali may miss a few weeks. There are a number of players in the squad who can play in that role, Pioli isn’t going to throw a newb with no Serie A experience into midfield.
He is already feeling well. He might even feature against Udinese.
