Dalot reveals knocking out Man Utd with Milan would be a ‘perfect birthday gift’

Diogo Dalot faced his old teammates on Thursday evening as Milan took on Man Utd at Old Trafford. The Rossoneri managed to get a good result as Simon Kjaer equalised late and the Portuguese full-back played well. 

As Theo Hernandez was struggling with stomach issues, he was forced to withdraw from the squad and didn’t travel to England with the rest. Dalot thus played from the first minute on the left-hand side of the defence.

He did quite well and it was one of his better games for Milan, seemingly in good form right now as he bagged a goal against Hellas Verona at the weekend. In an interview with SportMediaset (via MilanNews), he spoke about Mourinho and the current situation.

His relationship with Mourinho: “I’m grateful for everything, when I can I talk to him. I like Mourinho, he is a great person and a great coach, I’m grateful for everything he has done for me.”

The Man Utd loanee was also asked about the return leg in the Europa League round of 16, which conveniently will take place on his 22nd birthday. He revealed that knocking out his owners would be the perfect gift.

“The perfect birthday gift would be to win and go through. It would be the best gift to receive,” he concluded.
