Tuttosport: Florence trip brings new opportunities – De Ketelaere and Rebic must impress

By Oliver Fisher -

Charles De Ketelaere should be given a new opportunity to impress tomorrow night with Stefano Pioli reportedly likely to name him in his starting line-up.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports this morning both De Ketelaere and Ante Rebic played their last games as starters against Sassuolo, which automatically becomes the last time they played alongside each other.

That game ended 5-2 in favour of the Neroverdi and is now infamous for being the low point of the season, with De Ketelaere coming off at half-time, but now Pioli needs to let both of his players blossom who come from very different backgrounds.

One is a young talent who arrived with the weight of a heavy price tag on his shoulders and the other is now a veteran who has been kept out too many times by physical problems in the last year and a half and is looking for some consistency.

In tomorrow’s match against Fiorentina, De Ketelaere should therefore take the place of Brahim Diaz, who in turn will be rested in view of the away match in London against Spurs. Rafael Leao meanwhile is disqualified so cannot be alongside him, and that is why Rebic is a strong candidate for a start.

Neither CDK nor the Croatian have played from the first minute with the new 3-4-2-1 system designed by Pioli from February onwards, but the hope is that the game tomorrow can be a launching point.
