Charles De Ketelaere has claimed that his loan move to Atalanta is the ‘right opportunity at the right time’ for him and his career.
On their official website, Milan confirmed earlier this week that De Ketelaere has joined Atalanta on a season-long loan. The Nerazzurri have an option to buy in their favour too, so they can make the deal permanent.
After signing with Atalanta, De Ketelaere was unveiled officially as a new signing and he shared a few words about why he chose La Dea over some of the other teams that were supposedly interested in him.
“I chose Atalanta because it’s the right opportunity at the right time, also for the way they play. Atalanta had been following me since my time in Belgium,” he said (via Radio Rossonera).
“My impression as an opponent in the Milan shirt was that of a team with a lot of energy and quality, they finished fifth and therefore they’re a very strong team.
“The perfect environment for me. I also spoke to Gasperini, he said he was happy with my arrival and I’m happy too. I think the future is beautiful.
“I really like working but also spending time with family, friends and team-mates. I’m happy to start playing, I’m also happy for the fans who waited for me. I’m happy, see you soon, come on Atalanta.”
Gianluca Di Marzio reported that La Dea will pay around €3m for the loan deal to Milan and the option to buy is set at €22m plus €4m in bonuses. Furthermore, the Rossoneri will receive a percentage of the amount from any future resale, set at around 10%.

Surprise us!
See you back next season, I guess. Let’s hope he has a good season, so we can sell him to an EPL team or keep him.
If Atalanta activate the buyout option we cant cancel it. We are no longer in control of him. The only way we retain him is
1. Atalanta won’t activate the option
2. Atalanta activate it but CDK has change of heart and won’t sign the contract.
@AR
Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe 2) is not the case. He has agreed and signed the contract with Atalanta going forward from 2024, the option is only with the club if they activate it.
It’s unlikely the club would choose to activate the option if he didn’t settle or told them he really didn’t want to play there but I believe his contract is now determined, both with Milan and Atalanta from 2024.
Reports suggest he would receive a slightly higher salary if atalanta trigger the option.
my thoughts exactly
Atalanta will activate the buy option.
Another would be failure of Milan management
I see alot in him but the only problem with him Milan don’t give him the chance to prove himself they should have waited for this season only if he is not in shape sell him on January transfer window
