Denmark manager says he will ask Kjaer for advice to stop ‘dangerous’ Giroud

By Isak Möller -

Olivier Giroud has started the World Cup well with two goals in the first game and tomorrow, his France will take on Denmark. He will face his AC Milan teammate Simon Kjaer, who will try to stop him.

The Danish centre-back was mentioned by Denmark’s manager Kasper Hjulmand during today’s pre-match press conference. The manager stated that Kjaer will have to help him to stop Giroud, whom he believes to be stronger than ever.

“A player like Olivier Giroud is really, really good at what he can do. It’s good to see more and more older strikers use their experience in the way they move in the box, to be dangerous. They are calmer in their finishing, in possession. I think Giroud is probably also showing that he’s better than before. He’s very dangerous. Of course, Simon knows him well. He can tell us a lot about Giroud and other things. I hope that will be an advantage,” he said as cited by GetFrenchFootballNews.

Kjaer didn’t play the full game for Denmark against Tunisia (which finished 0-0) but he will start once again tomorrow. He remains an important player for the Danish side but his physical condition hasn’t been the same since returning from the injury.

The duel with Giroud will certainly be interesting to see, especially since both players know each other so well. France will be the favourites but Denmark have shown before that they can rise against all odds.
