Di Marzio: Bologna enter race for Saelemaekers with ‘great force’ – the situation

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are keen on parting ways with Alexis Saelemaekers this summer but with time running out, it’s not an easy task for the Rossoneri. Bologna have now joined the race, though, according to a report.

Saelemaekers made a few appearances during the pre-season but was left out of the squad for the season opener against Bologna. On our Substack, we have explained the entire situation and what really led to the exclusion (read here).

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Bologna have entered the race for Saelemaekers ‘with great force’. Their star Riccardo Orsolino had been linked with a move this summer but ended up renewing his contract, meaning he might not free up the money expected.

Therefore, as highlighted by the report, the costs of the Saelemaekers operation are considered high by the Rossoblu and that makes the situation difficult. It remains to be seen if an opening can be found in the negotiations.

    1. Posh would be great, but we are covered in that role unless Florenzi leaves. I really like Posh, perfect as defensive right back and can play CB as well.

  1. Swap him for Dominguez, sell Krunic to fener and then use that money to further boost the funds for the striker, though now it might be too late to be selling Krunic when the season is well underway

    1. Did you want Thiaw to join Milan? Considering he played a terrible game against Union Berlin in 2022, where Schalke lost 6-1?

Judge individual talent, not what’s happening in the team. Bologna is not a good team. Gattuso came from a team that was relegated himself.

Dominguez is a great talent who needs a better team.

    2. Is that more a reflection on Dominguez or us playing well? Even a good player will have a bad day if he plays for a mediocre team against a good one.
