Di Marzio explains ‘there are no contacts’ between Milan and Sergio Ramos

By Isak Möller -

Milan recently announced the permanent signing of Fikayo Tomori and are not exactly in the market for a centre-back. Therefore, it came as a surprise when they were linked with free agent Sergio Ramos.

Earlier today, El Chiringuito reported that the Spanish defender has spoken to Milan after parting ways with Real Madrid, ready to start a new adventure elsewhere. Not many details were provided, but it was still very interesting to hear the link.

On his Instagram story, Gianluca Di Marzio (via MilanLive) explained the situation and thus provided some more details on the Ramos-Milan links. He echoed what many of us expected already: the operation would be far too expensive.

“There are no contacts and no possibility. There is nothing between Milan and Sergio Ramos. The Rossoneri, in their policy, don’t include the signing of a 35-year-old player who would cost over €50m between signing bonuses and gross salary,” he stated.

As mentioned above, Milan only just announced the permanent signing of Tomori from Chelsea for €28m and certainly don’t need another centre-back as things stand. It seems it was just another crazy mercato rumour, that is the Ramos links.
