Di Marzio: Newly-promoted Venezia launch attempt for Milan outcast – the situation

Milan have several players that could be sold before the end of the transfer window and Mattia Caldara is one of them. Having just returned from a loan spell, the defender could be on his way once again.

Caldara spent the last 18 months on loan at Atalanta and didn’t impress the Bergamo side, as they opted not to activate the €15m buy-out clause. Therefore, Milan and the centre-back are back where they started before the loan.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, newly-promoted Serie A side Venezia are looking to reinforce their defence and Caldara is on their wish list. In fact, they have launched an attempt to sign the former Atalanta man.

During the loan with the Bergamo side, Caldara made just nine appearances and he now needs to relaunch his career before it’s too late. It remains to be seen what formula Venezia will propose to Milan for the transfer.

  1. as great as it would be i really cant see this happening unless we pay a large part of the wages or he accepts as huge downgrade on his wages because apparently this is his yearly salry before taxes £3,692,000 per year and his contract lasts untill 2023 so seems higly unlikely to happen with a club like venezia that i cant imagine has the best of finances. Loaning him out with an option doesnt really make much sense at this point either so doubt this will mount to anything.
