Di Marzio: Pioli aware of Milan’s contacts with Rangnick; Ibrahimovic could stay

By Oliver Fisher -

Current Milan boss Stefano Pioli is aware that the club are in talks with Ralf Rangnick, it is claimed, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic could yet stay.

Gianluca Di Marzio spoke to Sky Italia (via MilanNews) about what will become of the future of Maldini and Pioli with the shadow of Rangnick hovering.

He acknowledged that the choices and the speculation circulating in the media risk destabilising the environment even more. Milan are trying to protect Pioli’s job, but the current head coach is aware that there are negotiations underway with Rangnick that have been put on pause for now.

Milan believe it is right that the coach does his job in the most calm way possible, while a meeting with Rangnick is not easy given the current travel restrictions.

On Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Di Marzio adds that he has not yet decided what his future will be as he wants to see how his season ends.

The Swede will have to speak with CEO Ivan Gazidis, but Rangnick has not vetoed the idea of Ibrahimovic remaining for another season. It will be up to the philosophy of the club and Ibrahimovic to understand if they can continue.

Meanwhile, our correspondent Vito Angele has answered a number of questions from fans regarding the future of Milan and the upcoming mercato.
