Diaz heaps praise on Ibrahimovic and discusses Scudetto: “We must focus on ourselves”

Milan secured Brahim Diaz on a season-long loan ahead of this campaign, failing to include a buy-out option in the deal with Real Madrid. His goal last time out is a sign of what might come, after ups and downs thus far.

The Rossoneri need to be at their best in the final ten games and since their schedule is a bit easier – at least on paper – than the other big teams, they have a good opportunity. And Brahim Diaz could be an important player for them.

As mentioned, he has delivered mixed performances since his arrival but the goal against Fiorentina might be the start of a good run. In an interview with Radio Marca (via MilanNews), Diaz spoke about the situation and his future.

On Ibrahimovic…

“Everything is going quite well for us. The bond with Ibra is phenomenal, he takes the maximum out of you and brings out the best in you. Having him in the locker room is an honour.”

On the win vs. Fiorentina and Scudetto…

“The other day in Florence, I was able to help with a goal. Reaching Inter? We must focus on ourselves, the team must win the remaining matches.”

On the return of Milan…

“We have built a team that unites young people with experience. We continue like this to reach goals and fight for Serie A.”

On the pandemic…

“We hope that all this ends soon and the fans will return to San Siro, it is essential.”

On Milan…

“I like the pressure and we already know the club that is Milan. I’m very happy to wear their shirt and I will do my best.”

On the Spanish Under 21…

“We are a team that has conceded only one goal and we have scored several in the previous one. We have a team that can give a lot and we will show it in the matches we have. I will try to give my best and give my best to help the team.”

It remains to be seen if he can do enough in the final ten games to earn himself a stay beyond this season. One solution that has been discussed is a renewal of the loan, which could benefit both Milan and Real Madrid.
