Di Marzio: Milan smile as Monza secure €15m Pessina transfer amid clause

AC Milan are watching on with great interest as Monza appear to be just one step away from securing the arrival of Matteo Pessina. Thanks to a resale clause, the Rossoneri could bank a total of €7.5m.

Pessina left Milan back in 2017 as a counterpart in the operation for Andrea Conti, who ended up being a flop for the Rossoneri. A 50% resale clause was added in Pessina’s contract and that is still active.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Monza are in advanced talks with Atalanta and an agreement has been reached for a loan with an option to buy at €15m. The option will turn into an obligation in case of salvation for Monza in Serie A.

Milan will be entitled to 50% of that, i.e. €7.5m, as Pessina hasn’t reached 100 appearances for Atalanta. Had he done that, then the Rossoneri would have got a compensation of just €3m from the Bergamo side.

  1. If this really turns out right its not only great news for us as Pessina is from monza and actually played 22 serie c games scoring 6 goals for them in the 2014-15 season before joining us the following one. Bet he didnt expect to reunite with his childhood and hometown club so early and that in serie a. Hope monza has a great season and will be looking forward in anticipation to see berlusconi at the san siro october 23rd.

    1. He is an AMC, I think he couldn’t be a good RW but he can’t be worse than Diaz last season.

  2. Agree with @shal: he is actually better than Diaz, probably cheaper (salary) and Italian – academy product (squad list). Would be better than messias and more serious than saladmaker. Champion of Europe also! Just grab him!

    1. Yes, maybe we should buy him to be a left back, or a goalkeeper? You can’t just make up a position and say somebody plays there. He is a central or attacking midfielder, not a winger.

  3. Thats if monza not relegated . Option buy become obligation only if monza stay on serie A. AC Milan will be hoping monza not relegated to get 7,5m euro

    1. With the squad uncle Fester is putting together and the money Berlusconi is throwing around there is no way they get relegated. Monza will easily finish mid-table.
