Di Marzio: Probable Milan XI to face Genoa – Adli and Chukwueze to start

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will take on Genoa away from home tomorrow evening and Stefano Pioli is expected to make a few changes to the starting XI. Samuel Chukwueze will get the chance from start, a report claims.

The Rossoneri played just two days ago and rotation is thus a must for tomorrow’s clash against Genoa. However, with the international break coming up next, Pioli won’t have to change the entire eleven.

According to Di Marzio, Alessandro Florenzi will be the starting right-back but the rest of the defence will remain unchanged. In midfield, Yacine Adli will replace Tommaso Pobega, meaning Tijjani Reijnders will play on the left.

Up front, Samuel Chukwueze is ahead of Christian Pulisic in the race for a starting spot on the right. Noah Okafor also looks set to replace Olivier Giroud, who could use some rest after looking tired in the last few games.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Florenzi, Thiaw, Tomori, Hernandez; Musah, Adli, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Okafor, Leao.

    1. Why do you assume players’ abilities are tied to their transfer fee or that the transfer market is any way rational?

  1. Putting aside the fact that Chuk has yet to hit his stride and despite the fact that we have three midfielders out with injury, I’m so glad that we have enough depth and quality to rotate. Three midfielders out with injury, all starters!

    1. A few seasons ago, when Milan really established themselves as title contenders, they started Calabria in midfield and he played awesome.

That was one of the first signs for me that Milan had started to turn a corner. Great sides don’t have massive amounts of depth. They have players who cover multiple positions and makeshift players who perform like world beaters out of position.

Ambrosini used to cover Gattuso, Pirlo and Seedorf – three completely different players.

Butt did the same covering for Beckham, Keane, Scholes and Giggs.

Iniesta used to play in midfield and attack in the great Barca side.

Sturaro used to cover for Pirlo, Pogba and Marchisio.

Cáceres used to cover for Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini.

Stones plays RB, CB and DM.

The whole ‘depth’ thing is a myth that just drives more and more transfers. It could well be our undoing this season.

At least Adli has randomly started getting games. With all our ‘depth’ Pioli has turned to a player he had all of last season!

      1. So you called yourself Maldinis Heir, with absolutely no knowledge of the game, this is what you said.

So I’ll answer you now, without depth Milan as a team will not get very far, because Milan will be using the same players in multiple positions in every game to cover injuries, so none of the players are going to get any rest,

        1. I gave you numerous examples of some of the most successful teams in history. I’m not making this up.

But apparently we need a bigger squad than Man City.

  2. Our current best lineup. Hopefully florenzi plays well so he gets more in the starting lineup. I’m expecting a big game from chukwueze too. Go into international break with a win!

      1. Loftus-Cheek is injured
This lineup is the best we can do with the personnel we currently have, provided that Chuk does well (otherwise, Pulisic has been better than him)
