Donadoni and Mirante

Donadoni says Mirante is ‘prepared’ for Milan-Juve: “He leads with personality”

The former AC Milan and Bologna manager Roberto Donadoni has shared his thoughts on Antonio Mirante starting against Juventus tonight. He believes the veteran will do a good job against the Bianconeri.

Donadoni was the manager of Mirante at Bologna for three years, as well as Parma for three years, and he thus knows the goalkeeper very well. Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, he shared his thoughts on the veteran.

“Antonio is prepared, he knows how to play the role well even in the build-up. He’s a discreet boy, off the pitch I would say essential in communication, but in the match he makes himself heard and leads with personality. And he has all the experience to withstand the impact of a Milan-Juve match,” he stated.

At the age of 40 years and 106 days, Mirante will be the oldest goalkeeper to start the Milan-Juve fixture in the three-points-per-win era. Milan are counting on him to do a decent job, just like Marco Sportiello when he replaced Mike Maignan.

Mirante has played 369 Serie A games and certainly knows the league well, but he hasn’t played for a long time (at least not a decent amount of minutes) and that is what could make things difficult for him this evening.
