ESPN: Man Utd midfielder Matic a new target for AC Milan

By Ivan Stoev -

After hitting a roadblock in their pursuit of Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira, Milan is still in search of a defensive midfielder, and the name of Nemanja Matic has now emerged.

Matic moved to Old Trafford from Chelsea back in July 2017, joining for a fee of £40million and signing a three-year deal, reuniting with former boss Jose Mourinho in the process.

However, he has never really made the desired impact in Manchester despite starting well, and during the 2018-19 season his performances came under intense scrutiny.

Reports from ESPN suggest that Matic has expressed his desire to sit down with United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer regarding his future at the club, and might consider other options depending on the outcome.

As of now, the Serbian is set to travel to Australia for the International Champions Cup, but his future remains uncertain/

This has apparently attracted the interest of both Milan and Inter, with the latter already plotting a swap deal involving Radja Nainggolan.

Milan meanwhile are closing in on signing one midfield target in Empoli’s Ismael Bennacer.
