Fichajes: Man Utd to rival Arsenal for €150m Milan star as part of summer rebuild

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United are ready to compete with Arsenal for the signing of AC Milan star Rafael Leao, according to a report from Spain.

Fichajes claim that United have set their sights on Leao as they look to bolster their left side and they will battle with Arsenal for the signing of the 24-year-old Portuguese international, valued at a whopping €145m.

Leao has 12 goals and 12 assists which has attracted the interest of various clubs around Europe, but realistically only Premier League clubs and other elite sides can afford his huge asking price.

Although Leao plays a similar role to Marcus Rashford, United could consider using the England international in a more central position like he has played in before, believing that he could also benefit from the service the ex-Lille man would provide.

Arsenal have also shown interest in Leao too as per the report, but the price that Milan asked for – around €150m – could ‘represent a significant obstacle’ for the Gunners. Although Mikel Arteta wants a player in that role, it would blown their transfer record out of the water.

On the other hand, Fabrizio Romano poured cold water on the Arsenal links earlier in the week, while Leao himself stated in training on Tuesday that he wants to play another 200 games for Milan.

        1. They clearly haven’t offered enough yet. Saudis need to pay at least 2-3x more than EPL clubs to get the players there. But still… Yes, “pay him enough” and they will join their league. The “enough” might be an insane figure though for some people. But they’d still do it.

    1. M.U. still has a lot of clout, and high salaries don’t hurt either… without considering that he’d move to PL, and that CL absence would be temporary.

I consider M.U. a much more credible rumor than Arsenal… though I’d think it’s likely if a coach from Mendes team joins them (Mourinho? Gattuso 😀 ).
Ten Hag’s agent is the same for both Hojlund and Amrabat.

  1. Idk why would anyone consider MU better than Milan. Milan is going better each year and MU is stagnant. They can offer him money, but he would rakisk his career to goes down the hill as happened to a lot of other MU players. As for Arsenal, They will always be “the participant”. Nothing he could gain there beside money
