Fiorentina director gives thorny response to Rebic question; confirms Milan’s offer for defender

Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has confirmed that AC Milan made a late offer for German Pezzella on deadline day.

Ultimately, not a single one of the over 10 centre-backs linked with Milan ended up arriving, and it has left many fans feeling understandably underwhelmed.

According to MilanNews, Milan tried until the last minute to give Stefano Pioli a new defender, negotiating for several players including Ozan Kabak and Mohamed Simakan, but the report adds that Maldini and Massara tried to get German Pezzella on loan from Fiorentina.

However, La Viola rejected Milan’s bid out of hand, and it is not particularly surprising given he is a key piece for them. Now, their sporting director Daniele Prade has confirmed this.

“The only offer was brought us last night, a loan offer from Milan,” he said.

Meanwhile, there is also confusion regarding Ante Rebic and his permanent move to Milan, which was made last month. The Rossoneri and Eintracht Frankfurt chose not to disclose the amounts of either the Rebic transfer or the one which saw Andre Silva go the other way.

The problem is that Fiorentina have a 50% resale clause on Rebic, meaning if the fee was €10m they would be entitled to €5m of it, for example.

On the Rebic question, Prade responded: “It’s not up to me.”
