The five key battles that could win or lose the game for Milan against Monza

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan will be looking to make it three wins in a row in all competitions when they take on Monza at the U-Power Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Rossoneri are desperate to build a run of form in Serie A and get back into the Champions League places as missing out would be a serious financial issue for the club.

There are a number of key areas on the pitch that will decide who takes all three points back to their corner of Lombardia. One of the most important battles will be Malick Thiaw up against the physical Andrea Petagna. Both players are in great form and they will be doing battle all evening long.

There could be a different sort of battle for the returning Fikayo Tomori as he tries to take care of Dany Mota down Milan’s inside left.

Over on Milan’s right-wing, Junior Messias will need to get the better of Patrick Ciurria who has been in very good form in 2023 both in defence and attack.

In the centre of midfield, Sandro Tonali will be trying to dictate the play for Milan, but he will likely have Matteo Pessina doing all that he can to disrupt his fellow Italian.

With Divock Origi expected to lead the line for the Rossoneri, he will be trying to get the better of Pablo Mari at the centre of the Monza defence.
