The four key battles that could win or lose the game for Milan against Verona

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan will be looking to retake the lead in the Scudetto race this evening as they will face Hellas Verona away from home. It will be a tough game for the Rossoneri and there are a few key battles to keep an eye on.

As Inter eventually managed to win their game against Empoli, the pressure is on the Rossoneri to claim all three points this evening. They need at least a draw to retake the lead, but the feeling is that they want to save that cushion for late.

The game will be a tough one for both sides and as said, there are a few key battles to keep an eye on. The first is Rade Krunic against Adrien Tameze, with the former expected to start in the No.10 role. He will have to find the space in between and pick out his teammates without getting dispossessed by the Verona midfielder.

The second battle is also an attacking one for Milan, namely Rafael Leao against Davide Faraoni. The Verona captain plays as a wing-back but the feeling is that he will help his back three a lot with the Portuguese winger this game. It will be up to the latter to gain an advantage on Faraoni, therefore.

Moving on to the more defensive battles from a Milan perspective, Pierre Kalulu must do his best to keep Giovanni Simeone quiet tonight. The Argentine has found the back of the net 16 times this season and is certainly a huge threat to Maignan’s clean sheet.

Finally, it will be interesting to see Franck Kessie against Antonin Barak. The latter has scored 11 goals this season and is a great source of creativity for Verona, which means Kessie will have to do what he does best: make life difficult for his opponent.
