Former Chelsea coach praises Milan for Giroud signing: “It will raise the level”

By Isak Möller -

Milan are just one step away from securing the signing of Olivier Giroud, per the latest reports. The Frenchman will be the deputy for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and despite his age, he could be a good addition to the team.

This past season, Giroud bagged four goals in 17 league appearances for the Stamford Bridge side, mostly coming off the bench. In the Champions League, though, he was a lot more impressive with six goals in eight appearances.

MilanNews reported a few days ago that Milan have reached an agreement with Chelsea for the signing of the striker. They will pay a fee of €1m and there will also be €1m in bonuses, while the player will earn €3.5m per year for two years.

In an interview with Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Angelo Alessio (Antonio Conte’s assistance coach at Juventus and Chelsea) praised Milan for the signing. He stated that the striker will come in handy for Stefano Pioli.

“Ibra and Giroud? I don’t see them together. Regardless of who will play, it must be said that Milan have added a starter. One who knows the Champions League and has also won it. It [the signing] will raise the level of Milan, Stefano is lucky to have him,” he stated.
