CM: Four players poised to leave Milan this summer including a surprise name

By Oliver Fisher -

There is a lot of focus on the additions that AC Milan need to make their squad grow in quality, but there will reportedly also be some departures to make room.

According to Calciomercato.com, the four games between now and the end of the league season will also be the last at the club for both winger Samu Castillejo and midfielder Tiemouè Bakayoko.

News should arrive in the next two weeks about the former who has a market in Spain, Paolo Maldini could be satisfied with a break-even on his book value given his deal expires in June 2023. For the French midfielder, the management will have to try to find a solution with Chelsea, but the early termination of his loan is a very likely option.

Meanwhile, Ante Rebic has an uncertain future as expressions of interest from French and German clubs have arrived for the Croatian striker. Rebic is ‘not exactly the portrait of happiness at the moment’ and if a good offer arrived he could leave Milan at the end of the season.

Finally, Junior Messias also seems destined to leave currently. Crotone’s relegation to Serie C could mean a discount on the option to buy set at €5m but for the time being it appears he will not be bought permanently.

  1. I think Messias can still do a job. His wages won’t be massive, and he’s had an impact in some games -I’d keep hold of him for another season. Not sure about Rebic; he’s had injuries this season, so difficult to judge what he’ll do going forward.

    1. Pioli will not give a chance to Daniel Maldini! Very sad, but I think that Rebic is good player, hope to evaluate his future well, before any decisions

  2. I’ve always felt Rebic was overvalued. I’d be happy to see messias stay as long as a starting caliber RW is added. I think he’s a good deputy. And personally I think Saelemaekers should go on loan where can hopefully rediscover his form.

    1. I agree that Messias can stay as long as he is the backup for a CL caliber RW. Saladmaker can stay and return to his original role of RB/RWB and backup Calabria, because I’m not sure we should spend the money to make Florenzi permanent.

    1. Don’t worry. There will be options if Investcorp takes over. Maybe they even bring in someone who would be expected to compete with Leao, putting his renewal on hold until he proved something…

  3. I hope Messias will stay, at least for the sub. He’s indeed not a top player, but he created chances and brought impacts in some of our crucial games.
